What To Do When it’s YOUR Name Being Burned Under a Candle???

by Dkr. Khozmiq NeWage

The use of candles and candle magic has been a staple in folk magic for a very long time. Candles can be used for every spell under the sun; Come To Me, Mastery, Steady Work, Healing, and all manner of things. We all know the basics: glass seven-day candle dress with appropriate powders, herbs, minerals, and oils – set it on top of a petition paper – light the candle – say your prayer – let the good times roll on…right???

But what about if you are on the other end of the ritual? Are you the target of another’s will? What do you do? How can you break free of someone else’s spell? Where are those obsessive feelings for your neighbor’s wife coming from? Are you the target of her love spell? Perhaps you owe someone money and they are burning Pay Me Now on your name, how can you hold out just a little while longer? When you feel the heat of the “Hot Foot candle” under you to move, how do you cool their fire and douse their spells? What to do when it’s your name the candle is being burned on??

Metal Magick

Metal Magick

Adapted from various sources, sources unknown.

ALUMINUM *Projective/Mercury/Air/Male
Aluminum is the most abundant metallic element on the earth and the moon. 8% of the earth’s crust is composed of aluminum in some form. Almost all rocks contain aluminosilicate minerals. The human body also contains traces of aluminum.
Powers of Aluminum: A conductor of electricity.

Magick Uses: A Modern metal with no Magick history. Aluminum foil can be used to fashion shapes for image Magick.

BOJI STONES *Projective/Mars/Fire/*Akasha
Powers of Boji Stones: Protection/Healing/Psychic Power.

Magickal Uses: Use for grounding and healing by holding the stone in your hand while visualizing. Use these stones to protect and strengthen your psychic defenses.
Balance: Wear to balance energies within the body

Powers Of Brass: Healing/ Money/Protection
Associated Deities: Sun deities

Magick Uses: Brass can be used as a substitute for gold for money attracting Magick rituals and spells. A simple money attracting *talisman that can easily be made is to inscribe a pentagram on a small piece of brass and carry it with you at all times. Brass is used for sun Magick and fire Magick rituals and spells. Sun Magick spells used to attract wealth and money should be performed at sunrise. Because brass has protective attributes it is used for defensive Magick to protect and send back negativity to the sender. Brass jewelry is worn for this purpose during such rituals.

COPPER (Cu/cuprum) *Receptive/Venus/Water/Female
The human body contains traces of copper.
Powers Of Copper: Conductor of electricity/Healing/Love/Luck/Protection
Associated Deities: Ishtar, Aphrodite and Astarte, and other Goddesses associated with Venus.

Magick Uses: Copper is used to make wands to direct energy during ritual. It is also worn during ritual to increase the direction of energy towards the desired goal. Pure copper is also worn for healing and to prevent sickness. It is said that copper should be worn on the opposite side of your dominate hand. For example, if you are right handed then wear copper on your left side. Because it is associated with the planet Venus it is also worn to attract love. It is highly effective for attracting love when copper is combined with emeralds. Balance: Copper has the ability to balance the polarities of the body, this is why copper is used to heal and prevent sickness. Copper balances the flow of energies in the body, both receptive and projective. When a person feels ill, it is believed that the energies in the body are not in balance or are blocked and copper is worn to balance these energies and stimulate the natural healing of the body.
WARNING: In the book, Metalen En Hun Effecten, Roos Leffebure(Dutch), Copper has a physical effect as well as an emotional effect. If worn for too long the physical effect can result in bluish of the skin with a smell, headaches and an unstable heart rhythm. The emotional effect is like silver, it produces emotional instability if worn for too long. (Contributed by Jef Bracke )

ELECTRUM (A mixture of metals)*Projective/Sun/Fire/Male
Powers Of Electrum: To find a natural mixture of metals is rare. Today electrum is custom made for specific ritual purposes. For example, uniting the receptive and projective qualities such as when gold and silver are mixed together or symbolically uniting the God and Goddess.

GOLD (Au/aurum) *Projective/Sun/Fire/Male
Powers Of Gold: Power/Success/Wealth/Strength/Protection/Male Dysfunction

A substitute for gold to use in money attracting spells is Pyrite (also known as Fool’s Gold)

IRON (Fe/ferrum)*Projective/Mars/Fire/Male
The human body contains traces of iron.
Powers of Iron: Protection/Healing/Strength
Associated Deities: Selene

Magick Uses: Pure form is found only in Meteorites. Used for defensive Magick to deflect negativity. Iron stops the flow of psychic energy and is used for healing the self when one feels emotional wrought or is under psychic attack, in this way it deflects negative energy. Iron inscribed with symbolic Mars is worn for protective and defensive Magick. Also you can take iron nails and insert them in white or blue candles for protection and defensive Magick. A talisman of iron is said to increase physical strength. Envisioning a large Iron Gate of old during a protection spells helps to mentally keep negative away.

LEAD (Pb/plumbum)*Receptive/Saturn/Earth/Female
Powers of Lead: Protection

Magick Uses: To be used for defensive and protective Magick to deflect negative energies.
WARNING: Lead is poisonous when absorbed by the body.

LODESTONE (Magnetite/natural magnet/natural iron oxide)
*Receptive/Venus/Water/Female Was used by sailors and mariners to find the magnetic North.
Powers of Lodestone: to attract love, money, friendship, and power/Protection/Fidelity

Magickal Uses: Lodestone has a natural magnetic quality and the larger the stone the greater its magnetic powers. It is used for attraction. It can worn during ritual, or placed on an alter to increase a spell’s powers. Lodestone can also be used for healing by placing the stone on the hurt part of the body. After the spell or ritual is performed and the stone has absorbed the negative energies, the stone should be cleaned. It can also be placed in the receptive hand while performing spells or for emotional healing.

MERCURY (Hg/hydrargyrum)*Duel Energies/Water, Earth, Air/Male/Female

Magick Uses: Use for water Magick, scrying, divination, dreams, rituals invoking the Goddess and love and healing spells. Silver reflects negativity away. Silver influences the psychic mind increasing your chances for psychic dreams and enhancing intuition. Silver can be used for scrying. Take a piece of silver with you outside on a full moon and allow the silver to catch the reflection of the moon. Silver is also associated with the stones, Lapis Lazuli, Jade, Pearl and Emerald. When one of these stones are used together with silver as in a piece of jewelry it is used to attract love. Wear silver to sleep with a stone such as moonstone to enhance psychic dreams.
Balance: If wearing too much silver overwhelms you and makes you emotionally overwhelmed, try wearing gold with it to balance out.

Magick Uses: A modern metal without history of Magick use. Since it is a projective metal it is used today for defensive Magick to deflect negative energies away. Steel knives are used either through visualization or physically held while visualizing negative impulses and all negative energies away from yourself. Afterwards take the knife and place it under your mattress to symbolically serve as protection and to block negative energies from disturbing your thoughts at night. A steel knife used in this manner is for symbolism and visualization.
Important to Note if one works with the Dead: Steel is considered to be threatening the the Dead and they will not pass where Steel sits, when working and invoking the Dead to aid in workings, you must invoke them with a Bronze Sword.
Use caution when handling a knife.

TIN (Sn/stannum)*Projective/Jupiter/Air/Male

Powers Of Tin: Money/ Luck

Magick Uses: Made into money attracting *talismans

The Place Between the Worlds

“I conjure thee, O circle of power, that thou mayest be a meeting place of love and joy and truth….”
So begins the invocation off the magic circle. It is well known that magicians and witches work within ‘magic circles’, but very few people realise why – including many who use circles on a regular basis.

When the magician casts a circle, he or she creates a space apart from ordinary life: an interface between the mundane plane of waking consciousness and the realm of the gods and spirits, which we might call the Otherworld. When he or she enters the circle he leaves the ordinary world behind and enters a domain apart: a realm of sacred space and time. Indeed, time often flows differently in the circle, and when the magician leaves it after what may seem a few minutes, many hours may have passed in reality. This recalls stories of sojourns in fairyland – another word for the Otherworld.

When the magic circle is properly built, cast and invoked, it becomes the universe in microcosm i.e. it creates in miniature the entire cosmos. The complete circle represents its oneness, while the divisions of the circle stand for the passing of time and the seasons, the space in which the universe exists, and the substances and energies of which it is made. Every item used within the circle has a symbolic and magical resonance that reinforces these ideas and connections.

Whatever the magician performs within this magical microcosm will be reflected in the macrocosm, or in other words, each ritual act will be made manifest in the macrocosm, whether it is the re-enactment of a seasonal myth or an act of sympathetic magic. Since the circle is also the externalisation of the inner world of the magician and intimately connected with him, any act performed within the circle causes deep changes in the consciousness of the magician him or herself.

The circle is always a place of power, from the wheel of the chakra to the sacred ring of a stone circle. It is a universal symbol of wholeness and completion. When Christian missionaries reached the Native Americans, they asked the people how they saw God and, in answer, they drew the circle of the feathered sun, red feathers pointing both inwards and outwards, showing energy moving both in to the centre and outwards to the circumference, containing everything. In Buddhism the circle developed into the mandala, used for contemplation and visualisation. It represents everything and is a maze through which the meditator travels. The centre of the circle is the sky-door which is a means of reaching heaven or Nirvana.

The whole circle symbolises continuity, eternity, completion and spacelessness: the absence of time and space. As it symbolises what is complete and unbroken, it also symbolises the Deity.

But the circle can be divided: halved, quartered, or separated into degrees and so on. However, far from symbolising dissolution and imperfection, when these fractions are contained within the circle they represent the balance and harmony of such divisions. Think of the famous yin yang symbol, which represents the reconciliation of opposites within the whole. Within the circle, opposites [such as day and night, summer and winter] are united. Within the circle their division is not absolute, but each gives rise to the other, reconciled in the circle of unity.

The Celtic cross [a circle with an equal-armed cross within it] is a pre-Christian symbol representing the circle quartered through the compass points of north, east, south and west. It is an ancient symbol of the sun, which appears to us as a circular disc, passing through each house of the zodiac during the year, strengthening and weakening as it goes, spinning through time and each of the seasons in turn. Thus, the quartered circle represents movement, time, and the passing of the four seasons. It is equal-armed and characterises the balance and harmony of these within the unity of the circle.

The four main compass points of the circle are called the cardinal points. When the magic circle is drawn, it is aligned to the cardinal points of the compass- north, south, east and west. This is not merely symbolic, and the east of the circle should be aligned with the real east and so on. The flow of earth power is north to south. The North Star stands still at the north of the circle and for the Celts it was Caer Arianrhod, the Castle of the Silver Wheel, the entrance to the Otherworld and the place of death and rebirth. The circle must be oriented with the energies of the cosmos.

When the circle is cast by the magician, each direction is invoked in turn and the circle is thus spatially orientated. This operation is often called the summoning or invocation of the Watchtowers.

Each position around the perimeter of the circle represents a position in the station of the sun throughout the year, a stage in the cycle of life:

The north is the point of the circle associated with the winter solstice [Yule], cold, darkness, midnight, starlight, old age and death. However, it is also the point of regeneration, rebirth and life through death, as it is at the winter solstice that the sun is reborn. It then gains strength and grows stronger up until the summer solstice. The north is associated with the element of earth.

The east is the point of the circle associated with the spring equinox. The east is associated with sunrise, dawn and gestation, the beginning of growth; a time of green youth. It is connected with the element of air. In a stone circle oriented to the vernal equinox, the sun will rise directly in the east, over the east stone at the equinox.

The south is the point of the circle associated with the summer solstice, with the zenith of the sun’s strength, midday, with things beginning to ripen, with maturity and the prime of life. It is connected with the element of fire.

The west is the point of the circle associated with the autumn equinox and the completion of the harvest, with twilight, sunset, completion and decline. It is associated with the element of water.

Though there are possible correspondences for every degree of the circle, witches generally concern themselves with four more, the cross quarters:
North east marks the point of Imbolc
South east marks the point of Beltane
South West marks the point of Lughnasa
North West marks the point of Samhain

It should be obvious that there are more than two dimensions possible within the circle. The celestial realms of above, and the underworld realm of below stand above and below the circle, and their powers are called upon, drawn through the axis mundi of the circle as the first step of its casting. Thus the invoked circle is not a two dimensional object, but a sphere, extending below ground and above, in which the magician operates.

The central point represents the place where all powers meet, where all times and places are one. For the Celts it was the spiral or glass castle, a place of regeneration and rebirth. The axis through the centre links all the realms and times. The cardinal points are often called the quarters, which are further associated with the four elements. These are invoked when the circle is cast, so that the ring becomes a place of balanced energies.

The four roads [the four Royal Roads of Power] coming from the cardinal points meet at the centre of the circle. This point becomes the axis mundi, the centre of all things where all times and places are one, from which all things are accessible. It may be symbolised by the pillar, the shaman’s ladder, the world tree or cauldron of renewal. The centre is the place of initiation and rebirth. The spiral or maze dance within the circle moves to the centre, representing death, to the centre to the point of renewal, and outwards again in rebirth.
[This is only one method of casting a circle, and there are many others, but the principle of establishing a boundary between the mundane world and a sacred space where ritual acts are carried out remains the same.]

Set up the altar in the northern quarter of the circle. A low table or chest can be employed as an altar. This should be placed in the north [you might need a compass to fine the cardinal points]. Cover it with a white cloth. Place three candles in holders on the altar. A dish of salt and a dish of water are placed near the front. You will also need a knife which you keep for ritual purposes, which some people call an athame. You can also decorate the altar with seasonal flowers. Place a dish of incense on it.

A candle is placed in each of the quarters, the colours chosen help to resonate with the vibration of that quarter- green for the north [earth], yellow for the west [air], red for the south [fire] and blue for the west [water]. If you can’t get these you can use white candles, but the more you can re-enforce the imagery the more it helps your visualisation. Some people also like to place something that represents the elements in the quarters- a dish of earth in the north, the incense in the east, a flame or candle in the south, a dish of water in the west.

Check that you have everything you need within the circle [remember the matches!] before you start, as once the circle is cast, you will not be able to leave to get it.

Light the incense. The first act that must be performed is to establish the boundaries of the circle. Take the knife and beginning in the north draw the circle round the room. Remember where the point of the knife draws will be the edge of the circle. Include in the circle all the things and people you wish to be within the circle.

I conjure the O circle of power that thou mayest be a meeting place of love and joy and truth a boundary between the world of me and the realms of the Otherworld, containing the power that we shall raise within thee, but a shield and protection against our enemies, both visible and invisible.

Take the knife and place the tip in the bowl of salt saying:
Be this salt dedicated to the Lord and Lady [or whatever deities you call upon] to keep us from evil and protect us in this time.

Take the knife again and place the tip in the bowl of water:
Be this water dedicated to the Lord and Lady [or whatever deities you call upon] to keep us from peril and to purify this place.
Tip the water into the salt and mix them together. Sprinkle clockwise [deosil] around the circle saying:

May we cast from us all evil and darkness, viciousness and malice. May we become that which we must be before the Lord and Lady [or whatever deities you call upon], seeking ill to no one. May we be clean within and without so that we are acceptable before them.

Finish by sprinkling each person in turn.

Next connect the circle to all three realms. Take the knife and stand in the centre of the circle. Point it above and say:
Powers of the worlds above, I do summon, stir and call you up to guard our circle and to witness our rites.
Bring the knife down in a straight line and point it downwards. Say:

Powers of the worlds below, I do summon, stir and call you up to guard our circle and to witness our rites.

The watchtowers are then invoked. Take the knife and begin in the north. The casting of the circle is always begun in the north as this is the place of power that flows from north to south, so the power gateway is opened. Many people do not begin the invocations until reaching the east, as this is the direction of vocalisation. Draw a pentacle in the east and say:
Oh mighty powers of the east, I do summon, stir and call you up to guard our circle and to witness our rites.
Repeat this in the south, west, and north.

Return to the altar and consecrate the altar candles with the words:
I consecrate these candles that they shall represent light and knowledge within this circle.
Light the candles and take one round to light all the quarter candles. If you wish you can carry the dish of incense around the circle.

The work of the ritual is now performed.

When all is finished the circle is dissolved. Take the knife and cut through the boundary of the circle near the east and say:
Mighty powers of the east, thank you for guarding our circle and for witnessing our rites. I bless you in the name of the Lord and the Lady [ or whatever deities you call upon].
Repeat in all the other directions. Cut through the centre and thank the powers of above and below.
Put out the candles and dismantle the temple.

Black Moon

What is the Black Moon, is it another term for Dark Moon? No. Black Moon is when two Dark cycles occur in one given month. It is believed that the time of a Black Moon is a time of great power within the spiritual realms and any magic worked/cast on this night is especially powerful. Black Moons occur once every six to eight years and vary at the time of the year when they appear. The last Black Moon occurred in 2003 May 1st and 30th are the days of the two dark cycles. Previous years are December 1986, June 1992, and October 1997.

This year the Black Moon occurs under the sun sign of Taurus, as well as the Moon rising of Taurus. What does this mean? Well, that magic performed on this night needs to focus on characteristics of Taurus magic. Earth Element, The Bull, Venus, the colour green and Gaia, Isis and Osiris, Cerridwen, Bull of Minos, and Hecate who is ruler of the darker aspects of magic. Hecate is also the ruler of the Underworld who commands death and reincarnation and is the primeval dark mother.
Magic performed in a Black Moon is much of the same as the Dark Moon, only you are performing with a higher level of spiritual energy. So what magic can be performed under a Taurus Black Moon? Well, spells for prosperity, security, love, music and the arts all work good in this moon. Taurus also rules bindings, strength, endurance, and patience. Planting and Farming are good as well as consecrating ones pentacle. Now, magic worked under a Taurus Moon is best performed on a Full Moon, but in the case of the Black Moon you would perform this magic in the opposite of gaining, but releasing anything that is hindering you in these areas of your life. All things associated with our earthly nature are ruled under Taurus. So, if you are having issues with your sex life, this would be a good time to banish or bind the negative energies that surround your life in this area. Work spells that call upon dealing with intimate sexual issues, and physical connection, physical possessions, greed and wealth. Focus on removing what is hindering you in these areas, be it that you are in need of bettering your circumstances or removing circumstances that are in your way and not benefiting you at this time.

The next Black Moon shall occur in the year 2011 during the month of July, the first of the Black Moon’s shall be on the 1st day of July ruled by a Gemini Moon and the second New Moon making it a Black Moon shall be on the 30th day of July, ruled by the Moon in Cancer. Typically, the New Moons are ruled by the same as the ruling Sun in this case the New Moon on the 1st of July should actually be in Cancer not in Gemini as this is during the time of the Sun Sign of Cancer and the second New Moon {Black Moon} is ruled by Cancer Moon when it is during the Sun Sign of Leo, suffice to say that the New Moon of the 1st should be ruling Moon Cancer and the Black Moon of the 30th should be ruling Moon Leo, yet when we look at the Ephemeris both days are ruled by a Cancer Moon.

Yet, one must be wise and careful when working magic during this time, as too in Astrological terms the Black Moon is associated with L—-h, in which we do not speak or spell her name, so during this time it is best as with the Cancer energy in Sun and Moon to be watchful of your health, your children, pregnant women to be protected and to protect from fascination and temptations. Astrologically, depending with which planet she sits within shall determine her nature and what you need to watch out for as far as omens and portends.

Within the 2011 July Black Moon, she will sit in Pisces Retrograded, Pisces being ruled by Jupiter traditionally, in which normally would rule the energy of religion and the higher mind, however, the Black Moon is retrograded, which means that the energies shall be darker and more harmful with the energy being of darker, black magic being cast out into the universe. Sitting first on the 1st day of July in the fifth house, this house represents the children born, aunts, uncles, mothers, however, L—-h’s promise is to harm the children of the Adam and with it being in the child house denotes it is important to protect your children and keep them close by and away from strangers. Here too, she sits in the fixed star Mater, which is translated to mean Hollow Section, meaning no soul, this being where all evil resides.

On the 30th of July, she will sit in the fourth house which represents, the Father, families and those things associated to the those things that occur in the family structure. Here she sits in the fixed star Azelfafage also known as Pi (π) Cygnus, Azelfafage, is a star in the tail of the Swan. As we know this was one of Zeus shape shifted forms in order to lie with Leta and from this she bore twins, one child being the seed of Zeus and the other the seed of her husband, creating Pollux and Helen of Troy and the Constellation Gemini and Castor.

With this specific placement it portends to watch for those things in which are false in appearance that what you are seeing may not be what it really is false words and hidden agendas. Here Jupiter/Zeus is seen as the Dark Warrior where all the residence of dark and darkness resides. Be wise during this time. Protect your children and do not allow strangers into your life or home and watch closely those who try to drive a wedge between relationships, as throughout the entirety of the month she will move throughout all the houses created chaos and havoc.
Specific Lunar Magic

Magic in which can be performed when the New Moon is in Gemini cusp of Cancer is healing to lungs, work on anxiousness, nerves and shoulders. Also, here too is a Cazimi with the Sun and Moon, with Mercury in the same house there shall be throughout the month a change in humanity and their views about Religion. When the Black Moon is in Cancer focus on healing and balancing of moods, breasts, stomach and weight issues, here work on releasing unwanted feelings and emotions. The Moon being in the ninth house on the 1st of July here focuses on psychic workings, dreams and there will understand of the planets through mind communications as well as visions and dreams of beautiful places and positions of prestige. The Moon again on the 30th shall be in the ninth house in Leo and again with Mercury, the Sun and Venus, in which the Sun, and Venus are Cazimi which denotes a time of Prophecy and divination to occur and with Mercury and the Moon too here, shows where humanity shall be affected by Religion to some degree.

Born Old

There is a term “Born Old”, this means that one who is born old is born having learned all lessons that one is to learn in his/her lifetimes. This of course is accomplished through many lifetimes and not just one. Born old persons are born on a spiritual veil, so there powers will be easier obtained through out one’s life. One might consider that, being born old could be a time of the Black Moon, as well as either Samhain or the Winter Solstice, these are times when the veil is the thinnest and spiritual powers and energies are at the strongest.
And one will notice that these are the darker times of the station wheel, so Hecate would rule over one that was Born Old.

Herbal Associations to Hecate:

Garlic, Mandrake, Willow, Aconite, Almond, Lavender, Myrrh, Cypress, Opium Poppy, Mugwort, Hazel, Cardamon, Belladonna, Hemlock, Mint, Dandelion, Lesser Celandine, Hellebore, and Yew.

Familiar Associations to Hecate:

Bull, with the allies of the crane and the bee. Oak, mistletoe and yew. Earth and Fire, South and North, Caomhain and Yule. Bull’s Blood [black bulls wreathed in yew were sacrificed to Hecate], Dog, with the allies of the vine, earth, North East, and Samhain, also associated with lunar goddess. Frog, also called Puddock and associated allies of horsetail, stonechat, horse, and water serpent, water, West and East, Herfest and Ostara. Hare, with associated allies of broom and gorse, cat and stag, earth and fire, East to South East, Ostara and Beltaine. Owl known for wisdom, with the allies of ivy, air, Northwest, and Samhain. Toad, with the allies of sow thistle, horse, earth and North. The toad is associated with abundance and fertility. Ii is both connected lunar and Underworld. Wolf, with allies of hop, blackthorn, rowan, earth, North West to North East, Samhain to Imbolc. Hecate was also know to shapeshift into a wolf.

Now being that this year the Black Moon falls in May and is associated with Beltaine, and new beginnings, growth of seeds planted both in the earth and within ourselves. We can work magick for renewal, procreation, and fertility. This is time for those of us to begin a new journey within this station on the wheel.

In all things when working with the Other Worlds it is best if you do not know what you are doing to leave well enough alone, and when natures and energies are like this it is best to work the opposite to defeat the negative and evil with the power of the Light and Sun.

20th August 2017 — Solar Eclipse Energies

Solar Eclipse Chart

This Eclipse is above the earth in the Mid-heaven and this means that following in the next five to eight months the effects shall start to be seen and shall be in affect from anywhere from six to fourteen months.

This Eclipse is located in the tenth house and the ten house represents the following;

The Tenth House:

We have here the house that rules higher levels of the government, and that of the ruling class of all countries nation’s prestige, its “aristocracy,” and the opinion other countries hold of the nation. This is where the national identity becomes wholly conscious and strives to achieve the most ample portions of the collective dream.

Being a Solar Eclipse and in Leo of the third face/decan of the sign, this eclipse portends an increase in building fires, the breaking down of government as we also have Mars in conjunction with the Sun and this will show an increase in wars, conflicts it will also have an impact on imprisonment of corruption with high level figures, military interference in towns and cities as well as an increase in violent death as well as more younger men in death.  With the fire energy we shall see more in the ways of gun shot deaths across the globe.  Diseases of the blood are also common and as Leo rules the heart a rise in heart diseases.  It also presages and increase in looting as well as the destruction of holy places with Mercury being in the nature of this placement of the eclipse with Leo there is also to be presages an increase in rains, thunder and lightening storms and I have been feeling for some time we may even see martial law occur in some areas.

With this being a fire sign Eclipse I would recommend for protection upon your home and body, on the night of this Eclipse to light a Red Candle and place it in your East Window where the Sun will originally come through as well as lighting and invoking the energy of Michael the Archangel to protect your home and body from harm of any kind and to be wise.

Many people are fascinated by the sight of Eclipses, but dating back as far as they have occurred they have always been that of bad omens.  It is the blocking of the light in which creates this energy.  The ancients knew this as did all other cultures that worked with the heavens and stars daily as their guide to the seasons and when it was best to plant, move, marry and more.

Banshee i.e. Bean Sidhe

Bean Sídhe, the O’Neill Banshee banshee3

By Mac and O
You’ll always know
True Irishmen they say’.
But if they lack
The O and Mac,
No Irishmen are they’.

The Banshee is believed to be an unearthly attendant on the ancient families of Ireland, the true descendants of the noble Gaelic race – which those who have the Mac and O to their names. The banshee from the Irish bean sídhe (“woman of the side” or “woman of the fairy mounds”) is a female spirit in Irish mythology and folklore, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the otherworld.

Her Scottish counterpart is the bean shìth (also spelled bean-shìdh).The aos si (people of the mounds, people of peace) are variously believed to be the survivals of pre-Christian Gaelic deities, spirits of nature, or the ancestors.

The story of the bean-sidhe began as a fairy woman keening at the death of important personages. In later stories, the appearance of the banshee could foretell death. Traditionally, when a member of an Irish village, townland, or a prestigious clan died, a woman would sing a lament (in Irish: caoineadh, or “caoin” meaning “to weep, to wail”) at the individuals funeral.

These women singers were sometimes referred to as “keeners” and the best keeners would be in much demand.  Therefore there may be a connection between these attributes and the legend of the Banshee.

As mentioned above Banshees were said to appear for particular Irish families. As, an ancestral spirit appointed to forewarn members of certain ancient Irish families of their time of death.

According to tradition, the banshee can only cry for five major Irish families: the O‘Neills, the O’Briens, the O’Connors the O’Gradys and the Kavanaghs. Intermarriage has since extended this select list.

The banshee can appear in a variety of guises. Most often she appears as an ugly, frightening hag. The hag may also appear as a washer-woman, or bean-nighe (washing woman), and is seen washing the blood stained clothes and at times the arms, limbs, heads and armour of those who are about to die in battle.

But she can also appear as a stunningly beautiful woman of any age that suits her. Some theolopist and adherents of the Celtic Christians even believe that the Banshee figures are angels who fell and were trapped on earth.

However, most believe that the three forms of women represent the triple aspects of the Celtic goddess of war and death, namely Badhbh, Macha and Mor-Rioghain.)In some tales, the figure who first appears to be a “banshee” is later revealed to be the Irish battle goddess, the Morrigan.

There is also a strong belief that the Banshee and her legned represents Ireland itself. Hence Ireland is always seen as as women or mother figure and is always protected by her sons or its most Royal clans. Therefore the Banshee weeps at the loss of her very flesh and blood year after year day after day, forever.

Banshees are frequently described as dressed in white or grey, hooded cloak or the winding sheet or grave robe of the unshriven dead and often with a silver comb.

Ancient tradition and stories state that, if you ever see a comb lying on the ground in Ireland, you must never pick it up, because the banshee/banshee’s having placed it there to lure unsuspecting humans, will spirit such gullible humans away.

Although not always seen, her mourning call is heard, usually at night when someone is about to die and usually around woods. So that the wailing of the banshee was the first warning the household had of the death. In Irish legend, a banshee wails or laments, nearby if someone is about to die.

In the old Gaelic legends, music and poetry were said to be fairy gifts and the possession of these was said to show a fatal kinship with the ‘Duine Shee’, or people of the spirit race. Therefore the skill of the lament or the song is a gift that a fairy women or Banshee should surely have of course.

The wail of the Banshee is a peculiarly mournful sound that resembles the melancholy sound of the hollow wind, and having the tone of the human voice, and is distinctly audible at a great distance. The wail depending on the area can also vary greatly and there are numerous descriptions regarding its sound.

At times it can be so piercing that it shatters glass, in Co Kerry in the southwest of Ireland, the sound is experienced as a “low, pleasant singing”; in Tyrone in the north, as “the sound of two boards being struck together”; and on Rathlin Island as “a thin, screeching sound somewhere between the wail of a woman and the moan of an owl”.With her mournful and melancholy cry, bewails the misfortune about to fall on the family she loves.

If more than one Banshee appears simultaneously then it indicates those who died was a hero or a saint. However, the singing of the Banshee will vary depending on the relationship of the Banshee with the dead person or his family.

When you have a good relationship and she will sing a song softly suggestive to entertain the family left. The Banshee will proclaim the death of someone who does not like passing a horrible scream! However it has been stated by some writers that the Banshee was actuated by a feeling inimic to the person lamented. This however was not the opinion of the people of an earlier day in Ireland.

The general belief was that the Banshee was the friend of the family she followed, that she at one period enjoyed life and walked the earth in the light and shadow of loveliness and immortality. The very fact of the unearthly creatures always crying their sweet, sad song of sorrow at some misfortune bears this out, for if otherwise than a friend, why should her song not be one of rejoicing instead of lamentation?

When the caoine or keen of the Banshee was heard in the vicinity of the house of any old Gaelic family, it was at once felt that misfortune or death awaited some member of it. Instances have been quoted of every member of a family having been in vigorous health when the cry of the Banshee was first heard, but before a week had elapsed someone had been accidentally drowned or killed or had met sudden death in some fashion.

In Ireland, those persons who have the gifts of music and song are, it is said, watched over by the spirits; one the Spirit of Life, which is prophecy, such persons are said to be ‘fey’ and to have the gift of the second sight; the other, the Spirit of Doom, which is the reveler of secrets of misfortune and death, and for this the messenger of death is another name for the Banshee.

It is well to remember that the Banshee belongs exclusively to the Celtic race. She is never heard bewailing the approaching demise of any member of the other races composing the population of Ireland,Scotland and the other few remaining Celtic countrys.

‘Hast thou heard the Banshee at morn,
Passing by the silent lake,
Or walking the fields by the orchard?
Alas! that I do not rather behold
White garlands in the hall of my fathers.’

According to legend when we are passed by a Banshee and greeted by very friendly tone, we as mere mortals can then gain their trust. Therefore she will tell us the name of family members who will die later, or to grant a request for us.

According to tradition in 1437, King James I of Scotland was approached by an Irish seer or banshee who foretold his murder at the instigation of the Earl of Atholl. This is an example of the banshee in human form. There are records of several human banshees or prophets attending the great houses of Ireland and the courts of local Irish kings.

By Lough Neagh’s shore, hard by Edenduff-Carrick, the Black Brow of the Rock, the ruined walls of the Shanes Castle still sits above the grey lake water where once in all its pride of power and ownership dwelt one of Ireland’s most powerful branches of the clan, the Clanaboy O’Neills and its Chieftains.

Here, from time immemorial, when any misfortune threatened one of the grand old race, the cry of the Banshee of the O’Neills would be heard throughout dark woods of Coile Ultagh away over the grey waters of Lough Neagh, and along the walls of the old castle echoing in the great vaults underneath and wailing over the graves of the great O’Neills.

Maeveen was the name that was on the Banshee of the O’Neills. She was some times seen as well as heard, and the form she usually assumed was that of a very old woman with long white locks falling down over her thin shoulders. The story of how Maeveen or (little- Mab) became a Banshee has always been described in the following maner

In ancient times one of the O’Neill Chiefs went to help the McQuillan chief in one of his warlike raids. On his arrival he saw a cow caught in a thorn tree. As this tree was considered sacred by the fairies, no one would cut a branch to release the poor animal.

However the O’Neill Chief did, when he and the McQuillan returned to Shanes castle. They found that the O’Neill Chieftans daughter had been dragged to the depths of Lough Neagh by the fairy folk. It was at this point that Maeveen took her unearthly position as the Clanaboy O’neills Banshee.

From then to the present day when evil threatened a member of the family. Her shriek was heard upon the shore and along the ruined walls of the castle. Legend also blames the banshee for the fire, which destroyed Shane’s Castle in 1816.

As an added note for Halloween at the time a party was being held in the castle. As the fire took hold the guest fled the building and gathered on the grounds outside.

One of the guests, a Captain Greer who was a country magistrate from Randalstown, recounted afterwards that he had seen a person dressed in armour pass by one of the upstairs’ windows several times. As the building had been evacuated by this time, there was no reasonable explanation for what the Captain saw.

The Banshee was also very shy of encountering the eye of a mortal. The slightest human sound borne on the breeze of twilight drove her from sight and caused her to disappear like a thing of the mist.

It should also be remembered that although Banshees are said to be solitary spirits. There is always meant to be more than one and each branch of the O’Neill clan is said to have its own Banshee.

Moore, in his beautiful song, asks:

‘How oft has the Banshee cried
How oft has death untied,
Bright links that glory move,
Sweet bonds entwined by love.’

Presented by: Ariana Clausen – Velez

In this workshop we will be covering the basics of Astrological magic with a focus on discussing what is astrology, the ancient zodiac signs from Mesopotamia. We will also be looking at the star charts of Babylonian as they are used even today when focusing on working with their influences in Mediaeval magic and talismans and how according to the Babylonian the signs were in the wheel prior to today’s wheel layout.

We will also be discussing the zodiac signs, colours and numbers associated along with the virtues, spirits and intelligence/s that rule them when working directly with a specific planet and seal.

Finally we will be looking at how we calculate the magic we cast by looking at the Witches Timepiece and planetary hours (lower magic) and the days of the week and the best hours to cast magic.

It is very important to have a basic knowledge and understanding of the celestial system prior to casting any magic, magic is from those realms of the invisible and when we do our work we call on the spirits, intelligences, the Gods and Goddesses which are directly above us in the planets that move throughout the heavens. When we do our work we are invoking the very nature of the Universe at the Mental level and if you do not know what you are doing, I think that say it all.

Location: Google Hangouts so you must have a Google acct to attend.

The Workshop will cost 65.00 per person and each person will receive a file of the topic to follow along, however, this will only be provided after you register and you shall receive your file the day of the workshop.

Payment options shall be posted on my website at, I do have the Square and will be having an online payment option for this amazing workshop.
