Metal Magick

Adapted from various sources, sources unknown.

ALUMINUM *Projective/Mercury/Air/Male
Aluminum is the most abundant metallic element on the earth and the moon. 8% of the earth’s crust is composed of aluminum in some form. Almost all rocks contain aluminosilicate minerals. The human body also contains traces of aluminum.
Powers of Aluminum: A conductor of electricity.

Magick Uses: A Modern metal with no Magick history. Aluminum foil can be used to fashion shapes for image Magick.

BOJI STONES *Projective/Mars/Fire/*Akasha

Magick Uses: Brass can be used as a substitute for gold for money attracting Magick rituals and spells. A simple money attracting *talisman that can easily be made is to inscribe a pentagram on a small piece of brass and carry it with you at all times. Brass is used for sun Magick and fire Magick rituals and spells. Sun Magick spells used to attract wealth and money should be performed at sunrise. Because brass has protective attributes it is used for defensive Magick to protect and send back negativity to the sender. Brass jewelry is worn for this purpose during such rituals.

Pure copper is also worn for healing and to prevent sickness. It is said that copper should be worn on the opposite side of your dominate hand. For example, if you are right handed then wear copper on your left side. Because it is associated with the planet Venus it is also worn to attract love. It is highly effective for attracting love when copper is combined with emeralds. Balance: Copper has the ability to balance the polarities of the body, this is why copper is used to heal and prevent sickness. Copper balances the flow of energies in the body, both receptive and projective. When a person feels ill, it is believed that the energies in the body are not in balance or are blocked and copper is worn to balance these energies and stimulate the natural healing of the body.
WARNING: In the book, Metalen En Hun Effecten, Roos Leffebure(Dutch), Copper has a physical effect as well as an emotional effect. If worn for too long the physical effect can result in bluish of the skin with a smell, headaches and an unstable heart rhythm. The emotional effect is like silver, it produces emotional instability if worn for too long. (Contributed by Jef Bracke )

ELECTRUM (A mixture of metals)*Projective/Sun/Fire/Male

Powers of Lodestone: to attract love, money, friendship, and power/Protection/Fidelity

Magickal Uses: Lodestone has a natural magnetic quality and the larger the stone the greater its magnetic powers. It is used for attraction. It can worn during ritual, or placed on an alter to increase a spell’s powers. Lodestone can also be used for healing by placing the stone on the hurt part of the body. After the spell or ritual is performed and the stone has absorbed the negative energies, the stone should be cleaned. Silver influences the psychic mind increasing your chances for psychic dreams and enhancing intuition. Silver can be used for scrying. Take a piece of silver with you outside on a full moon and allow the silver to catch the reflection of the moon. Silver is also associated with the stones, Lapis Lazuli, Jade, Pearl and Emerald. When one of these stones are used together with silver as in a piece of jewelry it is used to attract love. Wear silver to sleep with a stone such as moonstone to enhance psychic dreams.
Balance: If wearing too much silver overwhelms you and makes you emotionally overwhelmed, try wearing gold with it to balance out.

Magick Uses: A modern metal without history of Magick use. Since it is a projective metal it is used today for defensive Magick to deflect negative energies away. Steel knives are used either through visualization or physically held while visualizing negative impulses and all negative energies away from yourself. Afterwards take the knife and place it under your mattress to symbolically serve as protection and to block negative energies from disturbing your thoughts at night. A steel knife used in this manner is for symbolism and visualization.
Important to Note if one works with the Dead: Steel is considered to be threatening the the Dead and they will not pass where Steel sits, when working and invoking the Dead to aid in workings, you must invoke them with a Bronze Sword.
Use caution when handling a knife.

Mandrake: European Mandrake Image

Ruled by: Mercury, Uranus, Pluto

Invocatory: Diana, Ishtar, Aphrodite, Circe and Saturn

Element: Water/Earth

Gender: Feminine

Gemstone: Quartz

Tarot: The World

Common Names: Gallows, Devil’s Apples, mayapples, mandragona, manikin, herb of Circe.

The American Mandrake is a completely different species from the European Mandrake.
Mandrake is used in rituals to aid in protection, love, money and health. It is used in the form of incenses or sachets and you may also use the root to hang above mantels in your house for protection. When using Mandrake Root in spell work it requires a 3 day soaking period to wake up the root, this is done in rain water or spring water.

It is used as an aphrodisiac, but poisonous if taken internally and could be terminal.

The Cherokee use mandrake for a very different purposes and in all the elements for various forms of healing and magick. In the direction of north it is referred to as Spleenwort [Aspenium playneuron]. It is an evergreen fern and was used with other plants in a formula as eyewash. Another plant called mandrake [Mandragora officinarum] was used for treating skin conditions and warts. In the East, South and West direction they use one of the other forms of mandrake, called the Mayapple [Podophyllum peltatum]. It is called Indian apple or mandrake, and is used in “special Medicine”. Like sunflower and evening primrose, Cherokee myths hold mayapple as sacred. Mayapple is a member of the Bayberry family, along with twinleaf in the West Medicine and blue cohosh in the East. Mountain folks used it to treat cancer and as a liver tonic. In the South Mayapple is used for the treatment of warts and mixed with dandelion to apply to warts as well. The mountain folks were also aware that the mayapple root was poisonous, except for the ripe fruit.

Mayapple grows abundantly in damp wooded areas in the Appalachian and Smokey Mountains. The plant has distinctive umbrella-shaped leaves with a single white flower that blooms in May and a yellow berry that is ripe in July and August. The rhizomes were used as a laxative. The Penobscot of Main used it for certain cancers, along with periwinkle. Today mayapple is used to treat planter warts and as a treatment for cancer and tumors.

In the west direction it is known by the Cherokee name of oo ne ski u ke and has a large leaf and a single white flower. An elder said do not touch the leaves with your bare hands because they are poisonous, but the fruit is good. To dig them out you learn to use a wood spatulalike piece made of laurel to dig with, then you dry and crush it to make Medicine. In the old days it was used to purge the body of ails. The women prefer to use it for themselves and their children, roasted, and even use it on difficult sores to heal.

Warning: Mayapple contains agents that are irritating to the skin. Do not use mayapple without the guidance of a person trained in its handling and use. This member of the Barberry family should not be used during pregnancy.
In Rome by a senatorial decree it is considered Illegal and is so titled Illegal Aphrodisiacs and Abortifacients. It is the magickal substance “venemo” that is forbidden by Roman law, According to Pliny, Natural History XXV.95, XXVII.2, XXIX.23, cf. Quintlilian, Declamations 7.4; 8.5.

It is associated to the Goddesses of Aphrodite/Venus and Hecate/Trivia, as you can see it is associated to both the light and dark aspects of the Goddess. However, do note that it is also associated to the Love Goddess in Egypt, which is Hathor.
It was the sacred plant of Aphrodite and was the golden apple that was the centre of her garden. It was identified with or equal to henbane, because of Aphrodite’s characteristics and effects.

Mandrake is important herb to witchcraft and gynaecological medicine. It served midwives since antiquity to increase sexual desire, to promote fertility, and pregnancy, to ease birth, to numb caesarean section, to kill the fruits of life in abortion, and to expel a stillborn.

The mandrake is also known by the names of “circeon, Mandragora Circaea, antimelon [in place of the golden apple], others called it kirkaia, dirkaia [plant of Circe/Kirke].

Mandrake is also interpreted as Moly. There are two kinds of mandrake the white which is associated to the male aspect and the black which is associated to the feminine aspect. Pliny states that when the seed is white the plant is called by some arsen, by other morion, and by others hippophlomos. [Pliny, Natural History XXV.147].
According to Apollodorus [second century B.C.E], the most important scholar of this time, it was the klrkata rixa, the plant of Circe, that was an amulet against the black magick of Pasiphae, a daughter of the Sun God Helios [Circe too was his daughter].

It was one of the key ingredients in the salves or flying ointments that Witches in the Middle Ages used. Here is a thought, what if we today made this blend and used it but under the watch of someone who monitored us. We could travel to many places and learn many things from our ancestors.

During Christian times the root of this herb was called Hexenkraut [witches’ wort], Unhold Wurzel [monster root], or Satan’s apple. In German it was called Alraune. It was treasured as a panacea that it was called Artz-wurxel [doctor root], “this is a term used by Williram von Ebersber in his exegesis to the Song of Solomon in 1060”. In the 16th century a wise woman or a witch was called an Alraundelberin [mandrake bearer]. Those who kept it in the home were said to have connections of the present and future.

Mandrake wine was used to treat insomniacs in the Middle Ages and early modern era. Many women were persecuted and exiled from villages and towns due to the use of mandrake.

Grimoires and the Solomonic Tradition

Grimoires and the Solomonic Tradition

I would like to talk about grimoires. Not a specific grimoire, like the Key of Solomon, or Heptameron, or Lemegeton. This isn’t even about their contents, or their history. No, what I want to talk about are the actual physical grimoires—those dangerous things made of paper and cardboard, with arcane scribbles of ink on their pages. Books that at various time and places (including to this very day) could get you arrested and worse.

The power of imagination

by: Ina Custers van Bergen

In occult circles there is an interesting discussion going on, fueled by the need of scientific proof for esoteric assumptions and claims about historical legacy. First of all I want to state that I think scientific evidence for historical claims is very important.   At the same time I want to emphasize to protect a crucial aspect of the spiritual traditions: the power of imagination. Loosing that power would mean: throwing away the baby with the bathwater! The world i-magi-nation contains the word ‘magic’. The definition of Magic is “The art and science to create changes in consciousness”, causing changes in your life. That very art is endangered when the scientific movement within the occult community would tip the balance at the cost of the power of imagination!

The power of imagination is underestimated in mainstream society. In medicine, doctors talk derogatory about the ‘placebo effect’. Some of the illnesses that people suffer from, are located ‘between the ears’. Meaning: you have a psychological problem rather than a physical one. Expressions like ‘this only exists in your imagination’, or ‘he has an overactive imagination’ are no compliments.   At the other hand there are complete industries, whose only business it is to charm you by influencing you, using  imagination. First of all, think of all the arts: here the use of the imagination is purest. In its most positive form, arts use the power of the metaphor to create awareness about society and enchant by beauty. Soon it becomes dubious, and degrades in shades of grey. For example in the fashion industry: from the genuine wish to create beauty the industries degrades into cosmetic operations on healthy people, and is co-responsible in causing eating disorders in insecure adolescents. Think of companies who constantly try to influence you to buy their products and even pay scientists for a favorable outcome of scientific research.  Think of politicians who try to degrade their opponents by associating them with ‘nazis’ or other fearful archetypes. All these industries use the power of imagination to enchant you, so that you make choices that are beneficial for them.

They do that by creating mindscapes.   A mindscape is a landscape in the mind. By a mindscape you define who you are, what you believe in, what motivates you and what stimulates you to action. Propaganda and marketing companies do that by videos consisting of powerful images, combined with melodies and spells. They abuse the powerful techniques that belong to religion, shamanism and magic. We are less and less protected by ‘beliefs’ embedded in the spiritual traditions, that – with all their failures – at least give us a structure of human values, personal development and stewardship over the planet.

Mindscapes in the imagination can also be are extremely important psychological and magical constructs, to observe the unfolding events around us. Creating powerful mindscapes of our own, makes us more independent and protects us against the ongoing propaganda surrounding us. For this reason:  I consider it to be the job of modern magicians, to raise awareness in the audience, for this side of  a reality that we  are living in, or captured in. And when necessary: alter that reality and choose a better one!

Winter Solstice Cards

2014-12-21 14.10.29_resizedWishing you all a most blessed Winter Solstice, today I did a different style of reading for the Solstice using the Oracles of John Dee.

We look at the centre where we have the Gold Geographer — here it speaks to life’s events and reactions according to our own nature.  Always be willing to look behind the true meaning and not the outward appearance and seek to navigate around the doubt that can happen when we least expect.

Then we go to the Red Historian in the North which focus on Work Influences telling us not to get bogged down with the minutiae of living as this is a distraction to greater events in your life that stand out.  Reflect on your life if you feel stuck seek to make changes.

Here Urial asks?  What change do you think you might need?   Be honest with yourself!

Then we move to the east and the Green Historian which represents your Health and Happiness.  Everywhere in your life connections exist.  Search for pattens as you follow the road before you.  In your heath you will find mirrors that are cause and effect.  Look to your dreams for the hidden clues.  Here Raphael asks?  What are your dreams telling you?

Now to the South the place of Intentions and Direction.  We have the Green Geographer telling us it is easy to loose your way through the countless paths in life be willing to look at the long road ahead and when things feel complicated look to the simple things in life and with this mark the most important journeys in your life.  Here Michael asks?  What guidance do you look for on your journey?

Then last we come to the West and that of the Red Astronomer which represents Love and Inspiration.   Love should never been seen as a negotiation but as a shared experience, take care not to become the leading partner in your relationship and instead seek the harmonious understandings that make friendship and essential part of every love story.  Gabriel asks?  What remains when the tide is withdrawn?

May all be blessed in the season of the Light as Apollo the Sun once again prepares to rise above the heavens and the light of day once again becomes longer.

Mercury Retrograde Astrology Reading Special Offer!!!

mer4Once again Mercury is  in Retrograde and again, in the sign of Cancer, there have been a lot of emotions flying about, quarrels, influxes, miscommunication, assumptions without the facts and more.  Mercury gets a bad rap and we have to remember there are 5 planets and then the Celestial Sun and the Luminary the Moon all of this goes into what energies are moving around.  Also it may be that your chart does not have Mercury in this sign or in Retrograde, so the Retrograde will not necessarly affect you like others.

When Mercury is in Retrograde he is simply moving backwards a bit off from his normal self and yes it can be frustrating but we cannot always lay blame on him alone, we must consider all the other planets, are they in detriment, term, face, exaltation, triplicity are they with their natural enemy or are they in a good position, are they too in Retrograde themselves all of this makes for a good pot of cooking or a bad pot of poison, it makes for getting things accomplished or having them take some time, and of course holding off until a later date.

This is not the best time to be doing new contracts, negotiations, promotions, and anything to do with the signing or communication.  If so you will come into some conflicts and feelings will be hurt and emotions will run high.  With Cancer, Cancer being best when in the Moon sign of Cancer, it is emotional, feeling, psychic energy, communications with the Other-side, and those persons who are of  hidden tendencies will reveal this face of themselves and it will manifest during this particular retrograde, as was the last Mercury Retrograde I wrote about.  Last year his position was in the same place, which means he will fall in all the other water signs this year, he first was in Pisces now in Cancer and lastly in Scorpio.

Normally when Mercury is in Cancer he is very compassionate, though lacking patience and very intuitive and psychic by nature.  He aids us in communication with the dead and those spirits and elements, it also aids in mediation and allowing ourselves to see into our own emotions.

Tempers will be high right now, as we also have to look at where Mars is, Mars is in detriment and with Libra which is ruled by Venus and the night side of Venus she reveals her darker side at this time.  Saturn is in Scorpio and in retrograde as well, so here we have Saturn in trip and with his natural enemy so we have again more fire energy burning the earth this leads to aggression and angry situations will arise.

Through this retrograde I will be offering my Annual Readings at a discounted price, I will be offering them for $100.00 that is a savings of $30.00 from my normal price.

The Old Religion & the Law of Attraction

By Ariana Clausen – Vélez

2013 July

“The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before whose touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open”  The Kybalion.

The Seven Hermetic Principles, upon which the entire Hermetic Philosophy is based, are as follows:  These principles are based on the Emerald Tablet and those things in which Thrice Greatest Hermes teaches.

I.        The Principle of Mentalism

II.        The Principle of Correspondence

III.        The Principle of Vibration

IV.        The Principle of Polarity

V.        The Principle of Rhythm

VI.        The Principle of Cause and Effect

  1. The Principle of Gender

The Emerald Tablet (Compiled from several early Latin and German versions)

  1. In truth, without deceit, certain, and most veritable.  (Principle of Mentalism)
  2. That which is Below corresponds to that which is Above, and that is Above corresponds to that which is Below, to accomplish the miracles of the One Thing. And just as all things have come from this One Thing, through the meditation of the One Mind, so do all created things originate from the One Thing, through Transformation.  (Principle of Correspondence)
  3. Its Father is the Sun; its mother the Moon.  The Wind carries it in its belly; its nurse is the Earth.  It is the origin of All, the consecration of the Universe; its inherent Strength is perfected, if it is turned into Earth.  (The Principle of Vibration)
  4. Separate the Earth from Fire, the Subtle from the Gross, gently and with great Ingenuity.  It rises from the Earth to heaven and descends again to Earth, thereby combining within Itself the powers of both the Above and the Below.  (Principle of Polarity)
  5. Thus will you obtain the Glory of the Whole Universe.  All Obscurity will be clear of you.  This is the greatest Force of all powers, because it overcomes every Subtle thing and penetrates every Solid thing.  (Principle of Rhythm)
  6. In this way was the Universe created.  From this come many wondrous Applications, because this is the Pattern.  (Principle of Cause and Effect)
  7. Therefore am I called Thrice Greatest Hermes, having all three parts of the wisdom of the Whole Universe.  Herein have I completely explained the Operation of the Sun.  (Principle of Gender)

So what does any of this have to do with the Craft, the Old Religion, Christianity, Druidism, Muslim or any religion and the Law of Attraction for that matter?  It has everything to do with it, it is the foundation of All.  It is the foundation of magic and all in which we manifest into our lives for the good or the bad.  It is the source to the All.  To understand how one you have to understand the other.  To begin the Law of Attraction is not a new thing, it is something that dates back to the beginning of humanity and the first incarnation of Hermes Trismegitus who was the author of the sacred texts Hermetic Corpus and was also known to the Egyptians as Thoth.  Both Thoth and Hermes were gods of writing and of magic in their respective cultures. Thus, the Greek god of interpretive communication was combined with the Egyptian god of wisdom as a patron of astrology and alchemy. In addition, both gods were psychopomps; guiding souls to the afterlife.  Hermes, Thoth, Mercury is the only God that can walk in both the underworld to guide those souls that have passed and the living world.  He is life and death, light and dark.

The Craft is known as the Old Religion it has been around as long as the beginning of humanity.  The Old Religion is not an easy path for anyone to follow, it comes with great sacrifice and solitary workings, it is however, the path in which focuses on the healing arts, astrology, alchemy and magic, which are the three main paths of a Hermetic teachings.  All leading to the Mystic Will, the Law of Attraction, Manifestation of those things we desire the most to have in our lives be it for the spiritual or the material for they are both connected you cannot have one without the other.  It is magic; it is of the mind of the All, One Mind created which is reached from the base of the One Thing.

However, to understand this you need to understand the Seven Hermetic Principles and how they work in our daily lives.  We all do magic, be it in our words, thoughts, feelings, deeds, actions and reactions it is all magic as it comes from the soul which is the heart.

When the Craft is taught and practiced correctly you will find all of these principles embodied not only in the magic but in how you find that deeper connection to self from within, it is used to find inner healing, too communicate with those entities in other dimensions and realms, to guide us to a greater understanding and knowledge of the All that is within us all.  The understanding of the stars and the planets in astrology, an understanding of the elements and how to transform them in alchemy and in that All magic exists, this is the Old Religion, the Craft of the Wise.  When we do our work we tap into our mental universe to manifest it into matter.

We will begin by looking at the first Principle or Rubric; “The Principle of Mentalism”.  “The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental.”  This Principle embodies the truth that “All is Mind.”  The mind creates everything and controls everything, it manifests from the subconscious to the conscious world whether you realise it or not, words do not matter in this case because when you think something for example you send out mentally that you are an amazing, beautiful, successful business man or woman you will materialise this into your life, this being the ride handed side which is of the material plane in where all things manifest into matter.  Also, on the other hand if you are full of self-doubt and feel you are the worth nothing, this will manifest into your life, you will always fail at what you set out to do, be it in love, career, life “The Mind is All”.  What you allow into it will manifest into your material world.

A quote from the Kybalion; “An understanding of this great Hermetic Principle of Mentalism enables the individual to readily grasp the laws of the Mental Universe, and to apply the same to his well-being and advancement.”

Within magic as well as the Law of Attraction we all whether we know it or not work with these principles, be it consciously or subconsciously, our mind is the one connection we have to the All, to everyone we are at some point of the same mind with, the same level or mental capabilities with and we draw to that energy and people, in that we are using the Law of Attraction to connect to those people who end up in our lives.  It is that of mind and hearts all truth.

We take a stone which is a natural object of the earth, some would call this an amulet, a found object, now when you sit down and hold it in your hands and close your eyes you are taking the time to mentally connect to this object, how it was created, where it came from, the energies it will have that you connect to, to manifest that which you seek in your life.  Let us say it is quartz, quartz is clear but within the family it has many colours, magical connections, healing connections, god and goddess connections, planetary connections, numerical vibrations and sounds that from the earth it has grown to carry within this small object that is literally of the earth.  It began as a base object nothing but dirt or solid black stone and over time, many millions of years as it connected to the Mental the All it begins to take form and create its’ own unique shape it manifests into something amazing and beautiful and from that we can mentally connect to the beginning of this object.  It starting out as nothing and ending up as something amazing and beautiful.  This is the Law of Attraction, this is magic this is what we do in the Craft, the Old Religion, and all paths that are of healing, light of both the dark and light for from the darkness light manifests and creates something amazing and enlightened, illuminated when we allow what we want from within to create in our spiritual and material world.

From the Gnostic Bible, chapter the Paraphrase of Shem; Darkness sees the Spirit & Darkness Ejaculates Mind into the Womb of Nature; “When the darkness stirred, the light of the spirit appeared to him.  When he saw it he was astonished.  He did not know that another power was above him.  And when he saw that his likeness was dark compared with the spirit, he felt hurt.  And in him pain lifted up, above the height of the members of darkness, his mind, which was the eye of bitterness of evil.  He caused his mind to take shape in a member of the portions of the spirit, thinking that, by staring down at his evil, he would be able to equal the spirit.  But he was not able, for he wanted to do an impossible thing, and it did not take place.  But in order that the mind of darkness, which is the eye of the bitterness of evil, might not be destroyed, since he was made partially similar, he arose and shone with a fiery light upon all of Hades, that the equality of the faultless light might become apparent.  For the spirit benefited from every form of darkness because he appeared in his majesty.

And the exalted, infinite light appeared, for he was very joyful.  He wished to reveal himself to the spirit.  And the likeness of the exalted light appeared to the unconceived spirit.  I appeared.  I am the son of the incorruptible, infinite light.  I appeared in the likeness of the spirit, for I am the ray of the Universal light.  And his appearance to me was in order that the mind of darkness might not remain in Hades.  For the darkness made himself like his mind in a portion of the members.  When I, O Shem, appeared in the likeness, so that the darkness might become dark to himself, according to the will of the majesty, and so that the darkness might become devoid of every aspect of the power that he possessed, the mind drew the chaotic fire, with which it was covered, form the midst of darkness and the water.  And from the darkness the water became a cloud, and from the cloud the womb took shape.  The chaotic fire, which was a deviation, went there.

“And when the darkness saw the womb, he became unchaste.  And when he had aroused the water, he rubbed the womb.  His mind dissolved down to the depths of nature.  It mingled with the power of the bitterness of darkness.  And the womb’s eye ruptured at the wickedness of the order that she might not again bring forth the mind.  For it was a seed of nature from the dark root.  And when nature had taken to herself the mind by means of the dark power, every likeness took shape in her.  And when the darkness had acquired the likeness of the mind, it resembled the spirit.  For nature rose up to expel it; she was powerless against it, since she did not have a form from darkness.  For she brought forth the cloud.  And the cloud shone.  A mind appeared in it like a frightful, harmful fire.  The mind collided against the unconceived spirit, since it possessed a likeness from him, in order that nature might become empty chaotic fire.

And immediately nature was divided into four parts.  They became clouds that varied in appearance.  They were hymen afterbirth, power, and water.  And the hymen and the afterbirth and the power were chaotic fires.  And the mind was drawn from the midst of the darkness and the water – since the mind was in the midst of nature and the dark power – in order that the harmful waters might not cling to it.  Because of this, nature was divided, according to my will, in order that the mind may return to its power, which the dark root, mixed with the mind, had taken from it.  And the dark root appeared in the womb.  At the division of nature the dark root separated from the dark power, which it possessed form the mind.  The mind went into the midst of the power – this was the middle region of nature.

It all comes from the same place, the Law of Attraction is this, magic is this, Old Religion is this, as is everything in which we create from our mental universe.

When it comes down to it we all do magic no matter what path we may follow it all comes from the same place.  Every principle is mentioned in the above paraphrases of Shem.  Shem is the son of Anu the Sumerian God who is the Father of all and from him all things manifest from base to illumination.

The ancient philosophers knew this, Akhenaton, Balinas, Empedocles, Paracelsus, Socrates, Aristotle, Bruno, Galileo, Copernus, Hypatia and many, many more (the first two being the reincarnated Thoth).  They knew that all was in the Mind and in the Universe and because of them we have the Law of Attraction as it is called today and it is used by Craft and everyone who truly understands what real magic is the mind and heart.

Planets of Traditional Astrology

Planets of Traditional Astrology

Within Traditional Astrology the planets in which are those of the time of the Babylonian’s and those planets they saw in the sky.  While yes, there are the fixed stars these are very much a part of those readings of Traditional, Medieval, and Ancient Astrologers they were not part of the planets or the ancient signs or how the houses set up.  The fixed stars are that, fixed and when the planets move along in their precession they at some point are conjunct with various fixed stars in the heavens and in that of the native during the time of the birth and are significant in their nature and those characteristics and nature of the native, their likes, dislikes, good and ill events that occur in their life time.  Renaissance Astrologers would also use this system to diagnose diseases in what we call today as Medical Astrology by looking at the Moon’s luminary at the time of the contracting of the disease to decide how to cure it, if it could be cured and how long one would be with this illness.

**Ariana looks at all of this and when mentoring you through your reading will help you to better understand how your planets affect you and how you can use your planets placements, magical number, colour energy of day or night and the metals associated to you in your native and annual chart to guide you through transformation as well as how to apply their nature in your daily life.  Ariana will also mentor you in finding solutions to finding where your planets are of greater benefit and focusing on their energies to aid you with the use talismans created specific to your needs to manifest your will and the law of attraction into your life.**

The colours attributed to the signs and planets are; Saturn is of the colour black, Jupiter is to the colour blue, Mars is to the colour red, Sun is to the colour yellow, Venus is to the colour green, Mercury is to the colour orange, and the Moon is to the colour purple for the use of talismans.  The numbers next to the planets are the number the planet is associated too and when doing talisman work it used to create what is called the magic square of the planet or the kamea of the planet to aid in doing specific workings with the individual planets to aid in petitions and prayers to manifest the law of attraction, your will into your life.

Also looking at what the Babylonian’s performed in their astronomy and astrologer they had specific prayers and invocations to the gods and goddess to invoke the energy of the planets they ruled and their luminaries to send petitions to the gods to aid them in magical workings or to bring good fortune during times of eclipses to remove all forms of sickness, depression and to bring healing, enlightenment and more.

17th Century Chart

The signs have progressed over since the beginning of time, the Ancient Astronomy chart the signs in the following order, the chart above is a chart from the 17th Century and the signs are in the following order.  Aries in the 9th house, Taurus in the 8th house, Gemini in the 7th house, Cancer in the 6th house, Leo in the 5th house, Virgo in the 4th house, Scorpio in the 3rd house, Sagittarius in the 2nd house, Capricorn in the 1st house, Aquarius in the 12th house and Pisces in the 11th house.

The only reason I can see is that below the heavens is focused on the material plane that of material possession and those things one obtains in estate, fortune, all things of base nature, and those other signs are above the heavens because they are more alike that of the Mental Plane and those things one gains when seeking for enlightenment.  Yet when looking at the houses and the signs associated to them it makes perfect sense.  When in one’s native chart they have Saturn in the 1st house this is the house of one’s survival and how they will live throughout their life time.  When Capricorn is here and that of Saturn is inclines one to be fortune in money and to always be of great wealth, the same with Jupiter who rules Sagittarius the house in this case of the estate.  So when you have Capricorn here and Saturn with him you have him in his house so it brings all things of earthly fortunes.

In Ancient Astronomy the houses were again placed as they were in the times of the first astronomers and astrologers the Babylonians, so the placement again is different.  As looking at the date of when astronomy is dated back to from its inception we can find records from the Babylonian cuneiform from the date of the “Old Babylonian Period”, 1700 B.C thru 1600 B.C., this was the time in which Venus was observed.  However, I am not going to cover all of this, for as it is the oldest form of divination it is also one of the hardest to follow and understand.

So how the Babylonian names were again placed are different from that of the time of the 17th century astrologers and astronomers.  When we look at the Ancient Planetary theory we find the houses were set up in the original form as was seen in the heavens during the time of the Old Babylonian Period and this is how the signs were originally placed.  As back then the houses were not associated by numbers only be above and below the horizon or to the east or west in horizon I will include so you the reader may better understand how the house and planets within them would have appeared.   The chart appears today according to this 1st house Aries, 2nd house Taurus, 3rd house Gemini, 4th house Cancer, 5th house Leo, 6th house Virgo, 7th house Libra, 8th house Scorpio, 9th house Sagittarius, 10th house Capricorn, 11th house Aquarius and 12th house Pisces.  Now, in Ancient times it was as follows:  Libra 1st house, Scorpio 2nd house, Sagittarius 3rd house, Capricorn 4th house, 5th house Aquarius, 6th house Pisces, 7th house Aries, 8th house Taurus, 9th house Gemini, 10th house Cancer, 11th house Leo and 12th house Virgo, remembering the Babylonian did not number the house placements for the signs they used the decan system in which each sign has three faces and this depending upon the date in which you were born.  An example being today being the 15th of July this puts Sun in Cancer in his third face the nature of the luminary the Moon, at the beginning of the sign we have for the sign of Cancer 21 June – 1 July this is of the planet nature of Venus the first face/decan of the sign and then from the 2 July – 11 July that of the planet nature of Mercury in the second face.  This is how the ancients read a person’s destiny and this is how that Traditional, Renaissance, Medieval astrologers today also read the charts.

Note:  The outer planets, Pluto, Uranus and Neptune are not used in Traditional astrology as they carry the same characteristics of their traditional planets, Mars in the Night, Saturn in the Night and Jupiter in the Night.
